Les Plants Nobles

Production area

This 100% Chardonnay is harvested in the south of France. It is grown in clay-limestone soils influenced by the Mediterranean climate.

Origins

This range, of easy-drinking wines, pays tribute to the great noble French varietals and especially to the roots of Ropiteau Frères.

Varietal

100% Chardonnay

Tasting notes

COLOUR: Beautiful pale gold with green tinges, bright and clear.
NOSE: Complex aromas of white flowers and exotic fruits as well as toasted nuts.
PALATE: A rich yet fresh wine with softness and lingering fruitiness. Very delicate mouth feel.

Vinification and maturing

The grapes were harvested during the cool hours of the night to keep the typical freshness of Chardonnay.
Each plot was vinified seperately so that we respect their true nature, and get a finer and purer wine. After the fermentaiton process, the wine is aged for 4 months on fine lees, under wood for a quarter to bring a subtle structure and for the 3 others in stainless steel tanks to keep the fruit and freshness of the grape.

Food and wine pairing

May be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif, with mixed salads or with fish

Serving suggestions

Serve chilled, at 12°C.

Vintage : 2020

The current public health crisis has certainly marked this year’s harvest, which nonetheless has been able to go ahead! Despite the year’s record temperatures and lack of rainfall, there is been no lack of quality, although yields are down, with an especially mixed picture with regard to reds. However, these have generally been very well-balanced. Overall, we have seen nice levels of acidity, promising good aging potential…
As the climate has changed, our vines have adapted, as have the harvest dates – as a greatly disrupted harvest schedule can attest. All regions suffered from drought, but the grapes harvested were in very good condition everywhere. The grape harvest began in summer (towards mid-August) with pinots noirs and was over by early autumn (end of September).
