Production area

Meursault is an appellation from the Côte de Beaune. The vineyards are located to the South of Beaune and cover a surface area of 395,84 hectares. Meursault, well known for its white wines, produces a small volume of red wines (13,52 ha).

Origins

The subsoil is mainly composed of clay and limestone. The grapes for this wine were harvested from different vineyards located both on the flatlands and on the slopes. The vines enjoy southern and south-eastern exposure.

Varietal

100% Pinot Noir

Tasting notes

With an intense ruby color, our Meursault has a discreet toasty smell revealing undergrowth and red berries notes. The mouth is round with blackcurrant aromas and very supple tanins.

Vinification and maturing

Harvested by hand, the grapes are manually sorted as soon as they arrive in the winery. They are then vinified in wooden vats and the wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months (25% new oak).

Food and wine pairing

Perfect with grilled pork, curried or tandoori-style poultry, lamb and cheeses like Morbier and Rocamadour.

Serving suggestions

16°C

Ageing potential

From 3 to 5 years.

Vintage : 2017

2017, a happy combination of quality and quantity.
This is the only region that enjoyed this rare combination. And yet the vegetative cycle was upset: The winter was very cold and there were early frosts in spring. Conditions were optimal for rapid flowering, but there was hail and the drought in the summer.
Harvesting was very early, starting in the August heat. After years of low yields, the grapes were abundant with thick skins that promised lovely color. There were significant disparities in terms of maturity between the whites and reds and between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. But excellent health and easy vinification meant a great vintage for those who got their planning right.
