Production area

Grapes for this village appellation from the Côte de Beaune are harvested within the delimited areas of the village of Pommard. This appellation consists solely of red wine and covers 321,63 hectares of which 115,82 hectares are classified as Premier Cru.

Origins

Burgundy’s soil is clay-limestone based, yet it varies xonsiderably from village to village. This renders the winemaker’s role all the more important when selecting the grapes.

Tasting notes

COLOUR : Cherry red, crystalline.
NOSE : 
Complex and powerful with predominant notes of fruit (Morello cherry, citrus, fresh fig), forest undergrowth, spice.
PALATE :
Powerful and robust. Flavours of cherry and spice. Solid structure with well-integrated tannins. Magnificent balance. Pommard is a wine with deep colour and an intense bouquet.

Vinification and maturing

Vinification takes place in wooden vats and is followed by 14 to 16 months barrel ageing (20% new oak).

Food and wine pairing

Perfect with beefsteak, furred or feathered game, stewed poultry and cheeses like Epoisses, l'ami du Chambertin, Nuits d'Or or Comté.
